Halle Berry's "Run-Down Home" Blues
LOS ANGELES - Actress Halle Berry filed a $2 million lawsuit against the former owner of her house that she alleges needs more than $1 million in repairs.
Her suit filed Thursday in Superior Court follows one filed June 10 by homeowners Jonathan and Alison Roth, who claim the actress knew about the condition of the property and bought it "as-is" in 2001.
Berry claims she and husband Eric Benet paid more than $2 million for the house in Beverly Hills but it "turned out to contain major undisclosed defects that would require over $1 million in corrective measures," according to the suit.
Berry claims she found out about the problems, which include numerous geological defects, only after the purchase was completed, the suit states.
Dale F. Kinsella, the attorney for the Roths, said Berry was aware the residence was being sold as-is and was given 30 days to inspect the property.
" Ms. Berry, her experts and her lawyers knew full well what they were buying and what they were doing," Kinsella said in a prepared statement. "This case simply will not entitle Ms. Berry to claim she 'doesn't remember' what happened."
According to the suit filed by the Roths, the agreement also gave Berry the chance to cancel the deal for any reason during the 30 days if she so chose.
The Roths say Berry was provided with extensive and voluminous disclosures on the condition of the property before she purchased it.

Halle Berry is the Top Babe
Actress Halle Berry is the sexiest woman in the world, according to a new poll by men's magazine FHM.

The Oscar-winner ousts tennis babe Anna Kournikova from the top spot on this year's list.

Kournikova, who was last year's top girl, has slipped to number nine on this year's ladies' line-up - behind Jennifer Lopez, Alyssa Milano and Britney Spears among others.

Bad Break For Halle
LOS ANGELES -- Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry broke her right arm while filming a scene for the supernatural thriller "Gothika" in Canada, a publicist for the movie said Thursday.
Berry, 34, was filming "one of the more physically demanding scenes" when she was hurt Wednesday, said Joe Everett, a spokesman for the Warner Bros. production.
Everett did not have details of the scene.
Berry broke her ulna, a long bone in the forearm, and was treated at a Montreal hospital and released, Everett said.
The movie was in its fifth week of a nine-week shoot. It was unclear when Berry might return to the set.
In the movie, Berry plays a criminal psychologist who wakes up to find she is accused of murdering her husband and is a patient in the asylum where she works.
The movie is set for release in October.
Berry won the Academy Award for best actress for her role in the 2001 movie "Monster's Ball."
She has been hurt before while filming. She suffered an eye injury while filming an action sequence in Spain for last year's James Bond movie, "Die Another Day."
